'Bleach' chapter 640 spoilers, rumors: Is the end drawing near for Captain Mayuri?

Chapter 639 of "Bleach" gave fans a heavy dose of Captain Mayuri's fighting prowess, but now the previous installment of the series is also being said to be the character's last true moment of glory.

In chapter 639, Captain Mayuri was thrust into battle with Pernida Parnkgjas. The battle featured numerous twists and turns, but near the end of the chapter, it looked as though it was Mayuri who had taken the upper hand in the battle with help from his modified Bankai.

However, it appears as though things could be taking a turn for the worse for the Captain if the latest rumors are to be believed.

According to Kaleo, one of the more interesting aspects of Mayuri's battle with Pernida was that it looks as though the former's daughter, Nemu, appeared to have a growing look of concern on her face. Nemu's troubled expression is featured very prominently in the chapter's final panel, and is likely saying something about what could happen next in the story. It is believed that Mayuri's bankai is the last option he has at his disposal that he can use to defeat Pernida, and if it does not do the job, then the Captain might be in for a lot of trouble.

Some are looking at the events of chapter 639 a little differently however.

According to Movie News Guide, Nemu's troubled expression may not exactly be a harbinger of defeat for Mayuri, and may instead just be an indicator that she will be prominently featured in the next installment.

Some are also looking at Mayuri's dominance over Pernida not as an indicator that he is headed for trouble, but that he may just become even cockier as the series continues with him having notched a fairly significant win.

Fans will simply have to wait and see what unfolds when chapter 640 of "Bleach" finally arrives.
