After ducking and dodging the decisions they should have made last episode, the boys return to watch each other's back in the upcoming installment of HBO's comedy series "Ballers."
In "Machete Charge," TV.com reports that Vernon (Donovan W. Carter) will get help from Spencer (Dwayne Johnson) and Joe (Rob Corddry) as he faces a life crisis. Meanwhile, Ricky (John David Washington) will find common ground with his passive-aggressive teammate Alonzo (Antoine Harris) and Charles' (Omar Miller) marriage will be put to the test.
Last episode, Spencer was found fleeing from a scheduled appointment with the neurologist set by his on-again/off-again sports-reporter girlfriend. He just heard that Vernon turned down a $71 million five-year contract Jason had negotiated for him. It was actually Reggie (London Brown) who convinced the athlete to decline the offer and shoot for $101 million. Livid with anger, Spencer told the two they were done once Vernon paid back the $300,000 he owed him.
Charlie, for his part, had acquired a potential side chick that made him consider cheating on his devoted wife, Julie. The car salesman had met Sammy at a party and the two became inseparable, with the bimbo sending him "sexts" and calling him to come over.
Meanwhile, Ricky apologized to Alonzo for fooling around with his mother. He thought everything was okay afterwards, until he saw his Ferrari in tatters. Apparently, Alonzo was still holding a grudge, despite accepting Ricky's sorry earlier. Ricky then asked Seifert for advice, and was told to just ignore everything and keep a cool head.
Then there was Joe, who took off on his boss' boat to party with hot girls and football players. He ended up getting New York Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz as a potential client, which would hopefully appease Mr. Anderson when he returned after the joyride.
Meanwhile, Screenrant reports that HBO has renewed "Ballers" for season 2, despite being just four episodes into its freshman year. According to the president of HBO Programming, Michael Lambardo, they were "thrilled" with the overwhelming response the series has received.
The series premiere became the most-watched debut episode of a half-hour HBO series since 2009, after attracting 8.9 million viewers across the network's branded platforms.
"Ballers" airs Sunday at 10 p.m. EST on HBO.
