Atlanta Falcons news: No contract extension talks with Julio Jones

The Dallas Cowboys are not the only team having contract issues with their best wide receiver as the Atlanta Falcons are also having the same problem with Julio Jones.

But unlike the Cowboys' Dez Bryant, Jones is under contract but has only one year remaining in his pact after the Falcons picked up the fifth-year option in his contract.

The 26-year-old two-time Pro bowler will earn $10.176 million for the upcoming season.

ESPN reported Monday that there are still no negotiations going on between the Falcons and Jones regarding the extension of his contract. Despite this, Atlanta should be thankful since Jones is not trying to pull a "Dez Bryant" on the team.

Bryant has threatened the Cowboys that he will not report to them and will miss regular season action until he gets the long-term deal that he wants.

He was also not present during the Cowboys' organized team activities and only attended minicamp once, not even participating in the practice.

Jones, on the other hand, was with the Falcons in their offseason workouts and will report for training camp, ESPN reported.

"I'm not going to hold out for anything. My teammates need me. I'm being selfish if I'm not here and doing what I need to do," Jones stated according to ESPN.

He added that his agent, Jimmy Sexton, will be the one responsible for discussions regarding his contract.

Last season Jones had 104 receptions for 1,593 yards with six touchdowns in 15 regular season games played.

They missed the playoffs for the second consecutive year after finishing the regular season with a 6-10 record.

Jones was selected by the Falcons no. 6 overall in the 2011 National Football League (NFL) Draft and got his first Pro Bowl selection in his second year.

In his four-year career, Jones has a total of 278 receptions for 4,330 yards with 26 touchdowns.
