iPad Air 3 release date: Tradition favors October or November 2015 launch

American multinational technology company Apple is expected to launch a new successor to the iPad Air 2 device which was released last October.

According to reports, the company traditionally releases a new iPad device every third quarter of the year. If Apple will icontinue with the same pattern for this year, the new iPad Air 3 could possibly arrive by this October or November.

MacWorld reported earlier last month that the iPad Air 3 would see an October release date, but other reports point to early November.

Also, since Apple's latest iOS 9 mobile operating system has been confirmed for released this September, the new iPad Air 3 might come with the new operating system pre-installed, according to the reports.

As the official successor to the iOS 8 operating system, the new iOS 9 was announced just last month at Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2015 in San Francisco. The iOS 9 is expected to offer a better user experience "with every touch".

In terms of the specs and features, the iPad Air 3 is expected to sport a slim body like its predecessor. It is expected to have the same 6.1 mm thickness and possibly a 24.7 cm (9.7 inch) display screen with improved resolution.

With the new iOS 9 operating system, the iPad Air 3 is expected to offer would-be users more options for theme customization. It might be powered by the new A9 processor, a 3 GB RAM and a large 128 GB internal memory storage.

Rumors say the iPad Air 3 might come with a 1.2 mega pixel camera on the front and an 8 mega pixel camera at the rear. MacWorld reported that Apple had also planned to improve the pixel quality of the front-facing camera so that it could perform better under low-light conditions.

An iPad can be used for shooting videos, taking photos, playing music and performing Internet functions such as web-browsing and emailing. Other functions such as games, reference, GPS navigation and social networking can be enabled by downloading and installing apps.
