With AMD having already launched the Radeon RX 480, a report from Anandtech reveals that they are set to launch the budget-friendly Radeon RX 470 and Radeon RX 460 within the next few days. The former will be out and available starting Aug. 4 while the latter will be released to the public on Aug. 8.
Both CPU cards are designed with the Polaris architecture, with the 470 utilizing Polaris 10 and the 460 utilizing Polaris 11. According to the report, the devices were made with the concept of delivering high-definition gaming and long hours of use for PC gamers while still being quite affordable.
As stated in a report from iTech Post, both cards will cost under the $200, mark with the Radeon RX 460 approximately closer to the $100 mark. AMD has confirmed that the official price will be announced on the day of launch.
Vine Report also reveals that the price range was one of the main targets as the company recognized the need to deliver high-end gaming hardware that the majority of PC gamers could afford, stating that at the time being only 16 percent of consumers had the means of purchasing the necessary powerful gear to play VR video games and games that have high hardware demands.
Anandtech does point out that the final price may change given that the cards are being made available solely by the company's partner retailers, which means the retailers will have the final say on how much the GPU cards will cost when out in the market. However, they will still likely maintain a price tag under $200.
Both cards will be capable of playing a majority of modern video games at a consistent 60 frames per second while still maintaining a high-definition 1080p resolution. The 470 will go one step further by being capable of supporting full VR technology, making it the ideal video card for gamers aiming to utilize VR headsets like the HTC Vive.
