Xbox One backwards compatibility games list: titles include 'Bomberman Live: Battlefest'

 Xbox Newswire

Microsoft has added a new title to its backwards compatibility program for the Xbox One, bringing the number of games up to 230 and counting.

"Bomberman Live: Battlefest" is now live for Xbox One players. The game, released in 2010, is the Xbox 360 take on the classic "Bomberman" franchise, featuring a number of arenas, modes, and in-game bombs for players to use. As with previously added titles, "Bomberman Live: Battlefest" will show up automatically on the Xbox One games library for players who already owned the game on the Xbox 360. Meanwhile, those who wants to experience the classic title on the current-gen Microsoft console can get a digital copy for $10.

"Bomberman Live: Battlefest" joins other newly added games in the backwards compatibility roster. Just this month, Microsoft also added "Shank 2" and "Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon." The new addition confirms that the roster is a mix of classic Xbox 360 titles across all genres.

Whereas "Bomberman Live: Battlefest" is a classic puzzle and arcade title, "Shank 2" is the sequel to the hack-and-slash 2D scroller title released in 2012. At the other end of the spectrum, "Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon" is a cyber shooter from Ubisoft, continuing the first-person shooter story of the "Far Cry" series set in an alternate future.

With the games list already up at 230 titles and counting, some fans are expecting that triple-A titles will be added soon. Since program going live back in November last year, Microsoft has added a number of major franchise games in the mix, such as the original "Call of Duty: Black Ops," "Fallout: New Vegas," "Halo Wars," and just recently, "Red Dead Redemption." Speculations suggest that next on the list is another big-name franchise game, "Call of Duty 2: Modern Warfare."
