Widdecombe to join rally against euthanasia

Ann Widdecombe will be speaking out against assisted suicide and euthanasia at a rally in central London next week.

The rally is a collaboration between Care Not Killing, Right to Life, CARE and the All Party Parliamentary Pro-Life Group.

Other speakers include Lord Alton of Liverpool, Christian Medical Fellowship's Dr Peter Saunders, and MPs Jim Dobbin and Fiona Bruce.

It is being held on 3 July from 10am to 4pm at the Emmanuel Centre in Westminster, close to the Home Office.

The rally follows high profile court cases seeking a change in the law to make it possible for a person to assist another in taking their own life without facing criminal charges.

The High Court is currently considering the case of 58-year-old Tony Nicklinson, who has 'locked-in syndrome' and wants assurances that a doctor will not be prosecuted for ending his life.

Organisers say the rally is being held to equip people in defending the law and protecting the vulnerable.
