Pastor Benny Hinn has responded to the raid on his offices in the US by the Inland Revenue and Postal services by invoking the healing and saving Gospel of Jesus Christ.

A statement on his Facebook page reads: 'As has been widely reported, Benny Hinn Ministries is cooperating fully with the governmental entities that are reviewing certain operations of the Church.

'The ministry has undergone intense scrutiny over the years, and we remain confident that there will again be a positive and speedy outcome in the days ahead.

'Pastor Benny appreciates the love, prayers, and support of our beloved partners as we continue to minister the saving and healing Gospel of Jesus Christ throughout the world.'

Hinn, known for his faith healing 'miracle crusades', had his Grapevine offices in Texas raided just days before he went to pastor a 'miracle healing and impartation' service in Ukraine.

In 2007, he was among a number of televangelists investigated by the Senate Finance Committee in 2007. The committee made no definitive findings of wrongdoing.

Of more than 700 comments on his Facebook page, many were supportive. One said: 'Praying for you Ps Benny and your ministry. No weapon formed against you shall prosper and you will refute every tongue that rises against you.'

Another said: 'It is very easy to get on the bashing train and gloat that Benny Hinn has to deal with this Tax problem, and I may not agree with Benny Hinn in many theological ways but I have learned that not one of us is perfect and although you may not be in his shoes you can stand in prayer for him. I will pray that Mr. Hinn resolves this issue and if he is in any error I pray that God reveals it to him personally and he corrects it. We believers are all forgiven, once and for all! In Jesus mighty name, Amen.'
