In just a couple of days, "Vikings" returns to History Channel for a brand new season and it's expected that spoilers and speculations become rampant.
So far, a lot of things about "Vikings" season 4 have already been given away. Series creator Michael Hirst previously revealed to the Hollywood Reporter that season 4 will feature a time jump.
Hirst did not give a specific number, but he only said that "some time has passed," adding that the journey from Paris to home won't be easy. "They'll have been away for a couple of years, something like that," Hirst continued. Ragnar's (Travis Fimmel) sons who appeared all grown up in the trailer (below) is proof of how much time has passed since the events that transpired in season 3.
The death of Ragnar is also one point of the whole story that a lot of fans are looking forward to and at the same time dreading. Ragnar wasn't in such a good shape back in season 3's ending and Hirst also teased that he will be seriously ill in season 4. The series creator mentioned that the mighty warrior will be "hovering between life and death" when the season returns.
In the trailer, Aslaug (Alyssa Sutherland) was seen asking the Seer (John Kavanagh) what it would be like if a woman will be the next ruler of Kattegat, to which the Seer replies, "You mean after the death of Ragnar?"

It still remains to be seen if Ragnar will end his reign this season, but several reports appear to suggest it, adding that his son Bjorn (Alexander Ludwig), along with his little brothers, will claim the throne next.
Apart from the changes that will come in the brand new season, "Vikings" will also introduce a new character, Yidu (Dianne Doan). She is a totally unique character within the world of Vikings, as History put it, because she is from a different culture.
She may not share the same culture as most of the characters in the show, but she will definitely not fail to captivate Ragnar.
Catch all new episodes of "Vikings" season 4 starting on Thursday, Feb. 18, at 10 p.m. EST on History Channel.
