'Veep' season 6 spoilers: Executive producer calls season 'uncharted territory'

Julius Louis-Dreyfus as Selina Meyer HBO

"Veep" season 5 ended with Selina Meyer (Julia Louis-Dreyfus) giving up her position as the president of the United States. Executive producer David Mandel revealed in a report from TV Line that this sudden change in position would alter the show significantly as it gives the story a brand-new perspective.

"One of the things I am really excited about is, much in the way 'Veep' became the story of the President of the United States when she became president, we are now going to get a chance to sort of check out what it's like for her to be the former president of the United States -- and not perhaps a well regarded former president of the United States," Mandel states.

The producer also stated that there may have been a lot of people who did not think Meyer was deserving of the benefits she got as the President since she only held the position for a single year. Mandel continued to explain that in season 6 Meyer was going to hear a lot of things that are hard to hear, likely very insulting comments from the people.

It is also confirmed Meyer was indeed letting go of her position as the president and she was not going to be given a position like being the vice Ppresident or something similar. "Veep" season 6 is indeed moving forward to tell her tale as a former US President, the consequences that come with the title and what she may be doing to move on.

"Veep" season 6 has no official release date as of the time being but it is likely to premiere in early 2017. According to Den of Geek the show is most likely going to be released by April next year, placing it in the same release bracket HBO has for both "Game of Thrones" season 7 and the studios' new show, the sci-fi series "Westworld."
