Fans finally got the chance to understand the character of Faith and why she is the way she is in the recent episode of Lifetime's "UnReal."

Monday's episode, tagged "Truth," dropped a bombshell — the insecure and shy Christian virgin contestant, played by Breeda Wool, realizes that she is a lesbian. In the show, the "Everlasting" crew is headed to Mississippi for Faith's hometown date with Adam (Freddie Stroma), where Rachel (Shiri Appleby) made the surprising discovery.

The producer put two and two together when she saw how obviously uncomfortable Faith was with Adam's affection, while being a bit too close with her childhood friend. When Rachel asked the contestant if she was in love with Amy, everything went out of the closet, so to speak.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Wool shared her thoughts about her character's profound realization.

"I feel like it's the only story in the series that is like, 'Oh dang, this is actually a positive thing.' We see some really cutthroat, self-serving behavior on the show, and in this storyline, people really step up for Faith."

The actress also explained how Faith's religious background influenced her acceptance of who she really was and her struggle to admit her secret to people who matter.

"Faith comes from a community with a very rigid and simplistic view of the Bible. The Bible is very complex, multi-tiered, but this church picks and chooses the things that make them uncomfortable as a society and then exaggerates and highlights them to say who's going to hell and who isn't," Wood said.

TV Over Mind called "UnReal's" fifth episode its best yet, commending how it shows that "truth comes with an ugly side, often from the backlash of others unable to cope with their own inner conflicts."

"Smartly, 'Truth' chooses to focus on the internal implications of Faith's realization, and how that seeps out into every other facet of the episode, giving definition to each character's complicated pursuit of their dreams and personal truths."

Halfway in its freshman season, "UnReal" shows a promising sign that there will be more revelations to come. It airs Mondays at 10 p.m. on Lifetime.
