Kimmy (Ellie Kemper) is ready for her college adventure when "Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt" returns for its third season next month.
Netflix has released a new trailer for the hit comedy's new season and it teases Kimmy's pursuit of a college degree. In the short preview, freed cult member Kimmy decides to pursue higher education. She also received the divorce papers from her captor the Reverend (Jon Hamm), who surprised her last season when it was revealed that they are technically married. Fortunately, Jacqueline (Jane Krakowski) is present to help Kimmy with the divorce.
Halfway through the trailer, the Reverend is seen calling Kimmy from prison and asking if she has received the divorce papers. "I haven't had the chance to sign that thing," Kimmy told the Reverend, possibly to stall the divorce process. She added, "Cause nobody in New York uses pens anymore. Everyone just vapes each other now."
Meanwhile, Kimmy's landlady Lillian (Carol Kane) struggles with her split with her creepy boyfriend Bobby (Fred Armisen). Fan-favorite Titus (Tituss Burgess) is also trying to deal with his boyfriend's possible cheating, so he comes up with a song inspired by Beyoncé's "Lemonade" single.
The sneak peek also teases cameo appearances from "Hamilton" star Daveed Diggs and "The Good Wife" vet Josh Charles, who are just two of the many exciting guest stars joining this season. The streaming giant also dropped a few colorful key art featuring main cast members of the hit series.
Other celebrities who will appear as guest stars in season 3 include Laura Dern, Rachel Dratch, Ray Liotta, Andrea Martin, and Maya Rudolph. Most of the program's recurring guest stars are also poised to return: Anna Camp, Mike Carlsen, David Cross, Tina Fey and Amy Sedaris.
The third season of "Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt" will premiere on Friday, May 19, on Netflix.
