New independent game developer Supergonk and publisher Rising Star Games announced the release of the upcoming cooperative gameplay (co-op) arcade racing game "Trailblazers" in spring for all major gaming platforms.

Rising Star Games and Supergonk reveal the first details about the upcoming game in an announcement on the publisher's website on Feb. 22. "Trailblazers" is apparently a fresh update to the traditional co-op racing with its inclusion of track painting. Ben Ward, founder of Supergonk said that their aim was to create a game to reinvigorate the genre of arcade racing and build one that the developers themselves would want to play. Players may play the game with up to six players online, or up to four players local via split-screen with additional online or central processing unit (CPU)-controlled racers.

In the game, players will take on the role of one of the racer group's characters. Each of the characters in the game will play an important role in the racing community as well as the story of the game world, possessing a unique role and driving behavior. The upcoming racer features a cast of drivers composed of humans, aliens and psychotic robots. Players will also be given the opportunity to choose from a showroom of the fastest cars in the game which have customized statistics for different play styles and track types. Moreover, the most important feature of "Trailblazers" perhaps is its three-versus-three team race with the aim of painting the track — players have to paint the track surface, capturing certain key areas to dynamically change the racing line and boost their team's color which consequently, boost the team's cars.
