'The Witcher 3' new patch release ahead of game's first expansion

A new patch is expected to be coming out soon for "The Witcher 3."

News of a new patch arriving for "The Witcher 3" came directly from CD Projekt Red Community Manager Marcin Momot. CD Project Red is the game's developer.

As of now, although the new patch has been confirmed by Momot and the game's developer, there's actually not much available in the way of specific details regarding what it will be bringing to "The Witcher 3."

Momot did provide a kind of overview of what the patch will be bringing in terms of its sheer size, as he has described it as one that will be introducing a "massive" amount of changes into the game, Push Square reported. The new patch is also expected to focus on improving the overall performance of the game on the PlayStation 4 consoles, although exactly how it plans to do that is unknown.

As can be expected for any patch, it will also be providing some fixes for problems that can be found inside "The Witcher 3." The new patch will be fixing bugs such as the one concerning camera problems that occur during horse animations inside the game. Aside from that specific issue, what else it will be addressing is unknown, according to Geek Snack.

One other bug inside "The Witcher 3" that could be addressed by the patch is the one involving the Yrden sign and its ability to freeze enemies, although this has not been confirmed.

Increased attention has been placed on the announcement of the new patch coming to "The Witcher 3" largely because of the timing of its arrival.

The first expansion for the game, known as "Hearts of Stone," is set to be released on Oct. 13, and some believe that the patch being released before then could also be prepping the game for the new additions.

Players will just have to wait for more news from CD Projekt Red to learn when the patch is officially set to be released.
