Mod support is now officially available for "The Witcher 3."

The game's developer, CD Projekt Red, was the one to announce the arrival of the official modkit now being available for "The Witcher 3."

The mods now available  for "The Witcher 3" run the gamut of usual alterations that can be made to personal computer (PC) games. Players can change all sorts of game elements such as the textures to potentially create a highly detailed environment, or perhaps a less detailed one but more visually striking.

Substituting meshes will also be allowed via the official modkit for "The Witcher 3," and this means that players will soon be able to change some of the models already in the game.

For those who want to engage in more heavy-duty modding, CD Projekt Red has also provided access to script files, so players will be more capable of making imaginative changes within the game.

CD Projekt Red does caution players regarding the modkit, saying it is something made for modders with experience, so using it at first may not be easy for newbies.

The official modkit for "The Witcher 3" is now available at Nexus Mods, according to Polygon. Documentation related to the modkit for "The Witcher 3" is available at the official forums for the game.

In related news, the New Game Plus downloadable content (DLC) for "The Witcher 3" is reportedly coming soon.

According to CD Projekt Red Community Manager Marcin Momot, the highly anticipated DLC is just "right around the corner." Momot ultimately stopped short of providing a specific release date for the New Game Plus, although his comments would seem to indicate that the DLC will be arriving sooner rather than later, according to Geek Snack.

Momot also touched on the issue of remastering the other two "Witcher" games. According to him, it is unlikely that the earlier games in the franchise will be remastered.
