"The Winds of Winter" remains one of the most highly anticipated books, largely due to the popularity of the "Game of Thrones" show on HBO, and according to a report from Winter is Coming, the book is likely going to be released by early 2017, before the premiere of "Game of Thrones" season 7.

An analyst on the site, known as BryndenBFish and operator of the War and Politics of Ice and Fire website, stated that the book is still on track based on the writing speed of author George R.R. Martin, even when the pauses in writing and convention appearance have been taken into account.

"I looked at it by analyzing George's writing speed for Dance with Dragons, and I still tend to see early 2017 as a potential date for when the book might come out," he explained.

According to the analysis, the book may already be in its final phase of editing and this means it may reach the publishers sometime soon in order for them to go over the content and have the book out by March or April 2017. Editing and final reviews of a book for publication often takes three to four months and the same will be for "The Winds of Winter."

In regards to the book's content, the analyst claims that the book will reveal Jon Snow's parents similarly to how the information was revealed in "Game of Thrones." On the show, Bran Stark (Isaac Hempstead Wright) saw a vision of the past where his father reunited with his dying sister and her final words revealed Jon to be her and Rhaegar Targaryen's son.

Back in "A Dance with Dragons" Daenerys Targaryen (played by Emilia Clarke in the series) was last seen being surrounded by Dothraki. In the show, she had conquered them and began her assault on Westeros. The analysis states that this will happen in the books but it is unlikely Daenerys will shift into the role of a cruel villain like her father, the Mad King Aerys.
