'The Walking Dead' news: Lauren Cohan addresses season 6 finale

The Walking Dead - Negan AMC

The season 6 finale of "The Walking Dead" has come and gone but the cliffhanger ending has gotten fans and the studios discussing who may have been killed off. According to actress Lauren Cohan, who plays Maggie, even the audio tidbits that are heard when the screen goes black cannot given fans additional clues.

During the finale, Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) finally picks a target and swings his bat, Lucille, down on the victim's head. There's a quick sequence of the camera in first-person mode as blood trickles down the unidentified victim's face and then the screen cuts to black with audio still going, letting the audience hear Negan continuing his rampage.

Speaking to the Huffington Post, Cohan revealed that the audio bits that can be heard during the season finale ending were not recorded on set.

"Here's a good piece of intel. We shot the scene, and then individually went into a sound booth privately to record audio, so I don't know. Nobody knows what anybody else said," the actress explained.

This keeps in line with the pact that the actors and crew made to ensure that the identity of Negan's kill will remain a secret until the season 7 premiere. However, it was previously reported that actor Norman Reedus, who plays Daryl, may already be aware of who Negan kills and he may have recorded different audio that no one has yet heard.

A report from Cinema Blend has shared a YouTube video by TV Show Lovers that further dissects the audio, hinting that Glenn (Steven Yeun) is indeed the character that is killed off. However, given that the audio is slowed down and altered, it is still difficult to distinguish what the actors are actually saying.

It is notable that of the voices heard, the video points out that a majority of the screams come from Lauren Cohan, who seems to be saying Glenn's name repeatedly, leading to the video's hypothesis that Negan kills off Glenn.

"The Walking Dead" season 7 will premiere this October.
