"The View" co-host Sherri Shepherd has asked for prayer after defeating her first husband in court two weeks ago, and her fans have certainly responded by showering her with supportive Tweets and prayers.

Shepherd and her ex, Jeff Tarpley are engaged in a custody battle over their son, and there are other issues with her present marriage, People magazine reports.

"Keep the prayers coming," she tweeted. "Still got more battles."

Her fans took heed.

"Worry not about what people think.God is all you need.He is on your side," one woman wrote.

"You got 'em Sherri," said another. "Stay strong, people who love you (even from afar) know you. No rag paper can change this."

The television host is separated from her husband, Lamar Sally, but recently had a child with Sally through a surrogate. Shepherd did not attend the birth.

Court documents show that Sally, 43, is seeking child support and alimony, and Shepherd, 47, is challenging the motions.

Fans criticised the coverage of the situation in gossip blogs.

"Thou shalt not judge lest thou be judged," another woman said. "Prayers hun & no judgement here!"

Shepherd said that fellow celebrities have reached out to her as well.

"A trip to get texts from celebs I only read about & don't know-giving me support & good wishes," she tweeted last week. "...Awesome....wait? how'd they get my number?"

The comedienne recently announced that she will be playing the evil stepmother in the newest version of "Cinderella" on Broadway. Her role and that of Cinderella – played by Keke Palmer – will mark the first time that African-Americans have appeared in the Broadway play. Shepherd was "overwhelmed" and "excited" after announcing the news.

"Loving it #GodIsGood," she said in a tweet Tuesday.

"The View" currently consists of Whoopi Goldberg, Shepherd, and Jenny McCarthy, but it was announced in June that neither Shepherd nor McCarthy will return for season 18. It was confirmed last month that comedian Rosie O'Donnell will be one of the new cast members.
