'The View' host Candace Cameron Bure defends Ted Cruz over affair allegations

Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz was the topic of the ladies from "The View" recently, and they discussed the report published in the National Enquirer claiming that the presidential hopeful has had multiple extramarital affairs.

Michelle Collins said she hopes the allegations were true. "But then, more so than that, just to see and show what a hypocrite he would be — if it is true, because it's alleged. But he's such a guy [who speaks] about family values and he lives by this kind of crazy moral code. So I love to watch people like that fall," she said, according to The Christian Post.

But her co-host Candace Cameron Bure, who is an outspoken Christian, disagreed with Collins and even defended the U.S. senator. "Crazy moral code?" she questioned. "He lives by Christian values from what he says he does, and that's a 'crazy moral code?'"

Collins acknowledged that Bure had a point, so decided to do away with the word "crazy." She said, "Let's just call it a moral code. But the point is, is that if he did cheat it would be quite satisfying."

But Bure is not through with her defence. She said that she finds no enjoyment seeing people fall since she chooses to believe in the best of people. "I don't find satisfaction in seeing anybody be ruined," she said. "We know that not all people are good, and we don't all make good decisions all of the time, but I always want to hope and root for people."

Bure earlier said that people always find things to criticise her about, whether it's about her clothing preferences or the statements she makes or does not make.

"There are a lot of people out there who might expect you to uphold their standards, rather than your own. I'm very outspoken about my Christian faith, and I actually face a lot of pressure from others within the faith," she told Motto.

It is a good thing that Bure has learned to shrug off the negative comments and not take things personally. What she chooses to do is hold true to her convictions and the things that she truly values.
