Captain Chandler (Eric Dane) and his crew are finally ready to distribute the cure for the virus that plagues the world in the upcoming season finale of TNT's "The Last Ship."
In "A More Perfect Union," TV Guide reports that the Navy will be sending out a call to all civilians to facilitate the dissemination of the antidote. The Nathan James will be meeting them at preselected ports, where the crew can personally hand over the cure, which they had worked so hard for to perfect.
Meanwhile, Immunes factions across the globe will still put up a valiant fight to stop the spreading of the cure. While Chandler and his men are resolute to put a stop on Ramsey's evil plans, the other side wants to make sure that the plot to infect the entire human race with the virus will also succeed.
Also in episode 13, the Nathan James is still trying to regain America's trust after being implicated in the huge disaster in the past episodes. Sean Ramsey (Brían F. O'Byrne) put the blame on the explosion that rocked the American soil on the Navy. Determined to prove that they are innocent of the crime, Chandler and the squad will have to convince their fellow citizens, as well as people around the world, that everything has been part of the master plan of the British brothers.
Variety reports that the finale of season 2 will be ending in "a gripping cliffhanger" and that the story of the USS Nathan James and its crew will continue in the next installment. TNT has renewed the series for a third season, which is slated to air summer of 2016.
The post-apocalyptic drama series was reportedly "this summer's top basic cable scripted series" for adults aged 25–54. According to Nielsen, it was also part of the top three cable series to air this summer, with an average of 4.6 million viewers.
"The Last Ship" season finale will air on Sunday at 9 p.m. EST on TNT.
