'The Incredibles 2' updates: Movie to be released end of 2017 or mid 2018; 3D version in the works

Pixar has yet to comment on the specific release date of "The Incredibles 2." Disney/Pixar

Rumors about when the much-awaited sequel to Pixar's movie "The Incredibles" will hit the cinemas are still making the rounds in the Internet, as the film studio refuses to announce a specific date yet.

According to Venture Capital Post, "The Incredibles 2" will likely be released as early as November 22, 2017 or in June 15, 2018 if Pixar will follow the same schedule as it did during the first film. Pixar has purportedly saved the two dates for its upcoming movies, which the website assumes to be slated for the sequel. Meanwhile, Movie Insider posits that it will be shown as early as December 2017.

Director Brad Bird had earlier confirmed that they were already working on the second installment of "The Incredibles." Earlier reports said that Syndrome will return to cause trouble for the Parrs. Jack-jack, the youngest of the brood, will be used by the villain against his own family, as he will reportedly have trouble controlling his powers. Dash and Violet have taken the job of their parents as the new saviors of the world. Bob and Helen are still on-call, although much of their focus now is on raising Jack-jack.

Meanwhile, Digital Spy reports that Pixar is currently working on a 3D version of "The Incredibles." During the 3D Creative Summit in London, Josh Hollander revealed the exciting news to the press.

"Right now we're working on The Incredibles, which is a lot of fun in 3D. I'm not sure what the release strategy for it will be. It's been an interesting challenge to work on technology because — while the film was released 10 years ago — the technology is even older as it took four years to make," Hollander said.

He also said that next on their list is the rework of "Ratatouille" after they are done with the 2004 hit superhero film. Other Pixar movies released in 3D include "Toy Story 1 and 2," Finding Nemo," and "Monsters Inc."
