'The Flash' season 2 spoilers, plot: Hawkman joins Barry, other superheroes on new quests

Hawkman lends his powers to The Flash in the new season of the CW's series. DC Comics

Hawkman will appear in the crossover episodes of CW's superhero series "The Flash" and "Arrow," The Hollywood Reporter reveals.

Falk Hentschel has been chosen by the network to play Carter Hall (aka Hawkman), the DC Comics hero known for his artificial wings attached to a harness made of Nth metal. The "Reckless" alum will act alongside Ciara Renee, who will play the Egyptian Prince's soul mate Kendra Saunders.

Hentschel will first appear in the crossover episodes of the two CW's series before continuing the role in the midseason of "Legends of Tomorrow." Executive producer Marc Guggenheim has earlier revealed his plans in what could be the start of several show crossovers during the Comic-Con. According to him, the first few episodes of "The Flash" and "Arrow" would set up how the new addition ends up on the spinoff.

Meanwhile, Venture Capital Post reports that the original Flash, Jay Garrick, will appear in season 2 to guide Barry on his new adventures. Hints on Garrick's return was shown during the first season's finale when viewers got a glimpse of his iconic helmet with lighting on both sides. Teddy Sears will be tapped to give life once again to the character.

Danielle Panabaker, who plays Caitlin Snow in the series, reveals that Garrick will be the young superhero's "cool mentor" and that he would make "a huge impact on everybody."

"He's going to help Barry expand his powers and the things that he's capable of doing," the actress said.

Another superhero to join Barry in the newest installment is Vibe, formerly Cisco Ramon, who discovered his superpowers last season. Carlos Valdes said that his character's traumatic transformation had overwhelmed him.

"There are changes to Cisco's biology that are happening. You can definitely expect pretty early on for Cisco to start grappling with those changes," the actor said.

"The Flash" season 2 returns this October on The CW.
