'The Flash' season 2 episode 21 spoilers: Strange time for Barry as Nora Allen returns

The Flash - Barry and Nora Allen The CW

"The Flash" season 2 episode 20 saw the team at STAR Labs attempt to give Barry aka the Flash (Grant Gustin) his powers back, but instead it appeared as if he was absorbed into the Speed Force and disappeared. The latest trailer and images for episode 21 reveal where he may have gone and also tease a return of Nora Allen (Michelle Harrison).

The promo trailer is short but it does reveal that Barry may have traveled to a pocket dimension or form of limbo. This world's version of Joe West (Jesse L. Martin) even states that he is not Joe West and later on tells Barry directly that the latter is never going to go back to his home world.

A report from TV Line later posted several promotional images for the episode, revealing Nora Allen to be alive in this limbo world. She is shown discussing matters with Barry and is also shown holding a book titled "The Runaway Dinosaur," which is also the title of the episode.

TV Fanatic reports that this version of Nora may be the catalyst for Barry to go back to his dimension but it would be difficult for this to play out given that this Nora will be fully aware that the Barry she is speaking to is not her son.

Fans speculate that her presence and Joe West's statements indicate that in this reality, Barry was the one who died years in the past and now Nora, meaning that Reverse-Flash succeeded in killing the Flash but only in this warped timeline.  This would explain why Joe would not want Barry to go back home.

However, the episode won't focus entirely on Barry and his journey in a different reality. Harrison Wells (Tom Cavanagh) and the rest of the team are shown dealing with the aftermath of the experiment and the return of an old villain, Girder (Greg Finely), whom they will need to take down without the aid of the Flash.

"The Flash" season 2 episode 21 airs this May 10.
