A new, terrifying character will be introduced in the premiere episode of NBC's crime drama series "The Blacklist" when it returns for season 3.

TV Guide reports that Edi Gathegi will be joining the cast as Mr. Solomon, who will consider taking down Liz (Megan Boone) and Red (James Spader) as his personal vendetta. Soft-spoken and unassuming, viewers will reportedly be shocked to know that he is the one who handles the Cabal's dirty work.

Executive producer John Eisendrath said that Mr. Solomon will catch the two fugitives unaware which will result to Red compromising their safety. Someone close to him will be put in "a very vulnerable position," and Liz's friend will have no choice but to do whatever the scoundrel wants.

"There's a character named Mr. Solomon who is going to be entering the landscape and is not friendly in any way to Liz or Red or the people they care about," the executive producer revealed.

Creator Jon Bokenkamp, however, assured the fans that Liz will not be "completely helpless" against the new villain. Glimpses of her past, which will be revealed in season 3, will help her survive.

"We are going to see glimpses of a criminal past that we've hinted at before. We're going to see whispers of her past and how that sort of thinking may be useful in some of these desperate situations," he said.

Meanwhile, Boone told Zap2it that season 3 will be an entirely different show, now that her character is no longer working within the law. She said that the same characters will give life to the series, but in a very different dynamic. The actress also added that the structure of the series is going to change, what with the task force "imploding."

"If you break open the entire task force, then it will be challenging to try to find the procedural aspect of the show again. With 22 episodes a year, it does benefit the show to have some kind of a formula. But we are going to sort of break open a lot of the structure of the show," she said.

"The Blacklist" returns Sept. 24 at 9 p.m. EST on NBC.
