SWOSU lockdown over after initial reports of a man with gun on campus

Southwestern Oklahoma State University has lifted its announcement of a lockdown after initial reports of a man with a gun on the campus. Earlier this morning, reports of a gunman on campus has rocked residents in the university town.

"The lockdown is over," states the University's website. "The lockdown is over. You may continue to see officers on campus as a precautionary measure.

The SWOSU had issued a lockdown for precaution at about 10:46 a.m. local time this morning. "Unconfirmed report of man with gun on Weatherford campus, officers are searching." The lockdown was over as of 12:19 p.m.

School spokesman Brian Adler told news agencies that the campus was locked down at 9:46 a.m. School students and staff members were told to stay inside classrooms.
