Just when Bay Kennish and Daphne Vasquez seem to have been adjusting to life in a new location, something will be pulling them back home. The season 4 finale ended with a call to Bay, hinting at an emergency that had her literally running to Daphne. A new speculation has surfaced as to what this call could be.

Fans of the ABC Family teen drama "Switch at Birth" are still reeling from that season 4 finale, which cut off right before revealing details to the call that Bay Kennish (Vanessa Marano) got. Previous speculations all point to signs that she and friend Daphne Vasquez (Katie Leclerc) will up and leave China because of this cliffhanger.

While rumours of bankruptcy and a problem with the newborn baby were pretty mild, the latest one is kind of grim. Realty Today says there's death back home. And it's not just ANY death: it's John Kennish's (D.W. Moffett).

John escaped death in season 4 when he suffered a minor heart condition. Despite fan fears that he might get killed off, he survived the season scot-free. But this heart condition just might recur, especially as the rest of the season showed financial difficulties for the Kennish family.

The same online source guessed that this financial downfall just might cause a strain on the head of the family and lead to a heart complication and, eventually, death.

This stays as a speculation at the moment and is best taken with a grain of salt. Another rumour that is not yet confirmed but is a huge possibility is the comeback of "America's Next Top Model" Cycle 22 winner Nyle DiMarco as Garrett Banducci, Bay's romantic interest.

He first appeared in season 4, episode 16, right when Bay decided it's time to move on from Emmett (Sean Berdy). The relationship didn't work out when Bay realised a hookup is just not her style.

Bringing DiMarco's character back would make sense for the teen drama. The show has always explored teen issues that remain unexplored hitherto in mainstream television. It has been praised recently, too, for bringing in more of the deaf culture into the storyline, even before the inclusion of DiMarco in several story arcs.

In 2013, St. Louis Post-Dispatch took note of how an episode made the show "the first mainstream television series to have multiple deaf and hard-of-hearing series regulars and scenes shot entirely in ASL."

Find out about the call that Bay received plus Garrett's possible return when "Switched at Birth" returns for season 5 on ABC Family next year.
