'Super Smash Bros. 4' character news: Shovel Knight rumored to appear as DLC

 Nintendo

"Super Smash Bros. 4" has been quite a well loved game by Nintendo and the latest rumors surrounding it is that Shovel Knight, from the popular game of the same name, will be featured as a downloadable (DLC) character.

Rumor has it that Shovel Knight will join other characters like Mewtwo and Lucas in the "Super Smash Bros. 4" and it seems that this rumor gets even stronger with the announcement that the knight will also be featured as an amiibo that will arrive in November.

This rumor may have come from Nintendo Life, in which it was stated that multiple sources have revealed to the news outlet that Shovel Knight will make it to the "Smash Bros." roster.

Meanwhile, "Shovel Knight" developer Yacht Club Games has no comment when it comes to such rumors.

But Yacht Club Games founder Sean Velasco did make a comment when it comes to the news about Shovel Knight being the first third-party game character to have an amiibo.

According to iDigitalTimes, Velasco was so excited that Nintendo approached the team with talks of turning Shovel Knight into an amiibo.

"We brought up amiibo, and they gave us a run-down of everything. We never thought we could do a third-party amiibo, but that's what Nintendo's plan was," Velasco said, according to the iDigitalTimes report.

Shovel Knight isn't the only character rumored to appear in "Super Smash Bros. 4" as a DLC. King K. Rool and Professor Layton have also been tied to the rumors.

In a report from Gamnesia, it stated that Nintendo recently placed a trademark symbol next to King K. Rool.

This character appears in "Donkey Kong" and hasn't made any appearance since 2008, which is why it is also rumored to join the group.

There's also Professor Layton who could make things more interesting for Wii U players.

A report from Attack of the Fanboy stated that an IMDb page on Christopher Robin Miller, voice actor for Professor Layton, indicated that he will appear in "Super Smash Bros." This could hint that the character will be appearing in the Nintendo game.

All these, however, are mere speculations and Nintendo or game developers have yet to comment on the news.

Meanwhile, "Smash Bros." fans should enjoy the regular updates provided by Nintendo to make the game more enjoyable.
