'Suicide Squad 2' release date news, plot rumors: Joker's relationship with Harley Quinn to be explored?

Ever since the successful release of box office hit "Suicide Squad," fans of the DC comic movie adaptation have been itching to find out when the movie sequel will be released and what it will be about.

After "Suicide Squad" managed to gather an astounding $744.2 million USD worldwide, the DC comic movie adaptation has earned the right to a sequel, which will be dubbed "Suicide Squad 2."

"Suicide Squad" tells the story of several bad guys that were gathered to form a team of hard-killer mercenaries that will assist the U.S. government in missions that are too dangerous for the government to risk their own people.

In an attempt to lessen the casualties among their own employees, a certain sector of the government gathered a set of individuals that possess above average hitman skills led by U.S. special forces Rick Flag (Joel Kinnaman). The "Suicide Squad" includes El Diablo (Jay Hernandez), Deadshot (Will Smith), Captain Boomerang (Jai Courtney), Killer Croc (Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje), Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie), and Katana (Karen Fukuhara).

Despite the success of "Suicide Squad," there are still no official reports as to who the cast will be for the movie's sequel. However, rumors suggest that Harley Quinn and Katana will definitely come back in "Suicide Squad 2."

A couple of rumored plots for "Suicide Squad 2" suggest that the movie sequel will be focusing on the twisted relationship of Harley Quinn and the Joker. Another rumored plot speculates that the movie will be diving into Katana's past, revealing the backstory behind her deceased husband and her Soultaker Sword.

On another note, the extended cut version of "Suicide Squad" has just been released, and it is said to contain an extra 13 minutes of footage including bonus features such as "Task Force X: One Team, One Mission," "Squad Strength and Skills," "Joker and Harley: The 'It' Couple of the Underworld," "Chasing the Real," and a "Gag Reel."
