'Street Fighter V' roster news: Make way for Zangief; New character teased?

Russian wrestling icon Zangief will be making its way to "Street Fighter V," developer Capcom announced at Russia's IgroMir event last Oct. 1.

The heavily-muscled grappler has been part of the game franchise since "Street Fighter II" from 1991.

When it comes to pure strength, not a lot of fighters can fight well with Zangief, Capcom stated in its release.

The Russian wrestler trains day and night since he believes that the sure path to victory is to have perfectly muscle-toned body.

Part of Zangief's extreme training is to wrestle with bears and with that, he's developed his super strength that gave him the ability to lift even the heaviest of his opponents with minimal effort.

Zangief's appearance in the new gameplay video has given players the familiarity that surrounds the character, although there have been major changes incorporated into the character, Polygon noted.

The wrestler still has his signature spinning moves and Command Grab special attacks, but as with other characters in the "Street Fighter V" lineup, he comes with a new set of V-Skill and V-Trigger moves.

The V-Skill called Iron Muscle allows the character to absorb hits from opponents, adding health to the character.

To activate the Iron Muscle attack, players need to hold down the medium punch and kick and head towards his opponent. Once he gets close enough, the wrestler will flex his muscle and unleash the move.

The V-Trigger, on the other hand, unleashes the Cyclone Lariat, which will make the character spin, pull in the enemy, and bash them several times.

Zangief joins in "Street Fighter V" game cast that already include Ryu, Chun-Li, Cammy, Ken, M. Bison, Charlie, Necalli, Birdie, Rainbow Mika, Rashid, Karin Kanzuki and Vega.

Now, there will only be three more characters to be introduced, Capcom reported.

No official announcement regarding the game's release date has been given yet, but reports suggest that the game may arrive sometime early next year.
