'Street Fighter 5' DLC release date, news, rumors: Classic stage remastered as part of new DLC

A teaser of the new "Street Fighter V" stage that will be released on April 25 Capcom Unity

A new "Street Fighter 5" downloadable content (DLC) pack is set to roll out early next week, and it is one that long-time fans of the fighting game may appreciate.

The stage will feature the Thailand stage, which was also seen in the previous titles of the "Street Fighter" series. It can be recalled that this is where M. Bison, one of the villains in the game's universe, first made an appearance in "Street Fighter 2." The updated stage is actually a remastered version of the old one, allowing players to see the bell and statues from the previous game in greater detail.

According to Capcom Unity, the developers initially explored the possibility of presenting the stage in a night time setting, with candles providing the light. However, they ultimately decided against it to make the stage resemble the original one as closely as possible.

Aside from the Thailand stage, also included in the DLC pack are new "student" costumes for Chun-Li, who will be portrayed as an Honor Roll student; Ryu, whose costume resembles a Japanese Bancho, or a gang leader; and Juri, who appears to be a Gothic schoolgirl, complete with dark make-up. These costumes were first revealed during the WonderCon Panel, as well as on the "Street Fighter Academy Quiz" on April Fools' Day.

The DLC will be released on April 25. It costs $3.99. Alternatively, players can also pay 70,000 Fight Money, which is the in-game currency of "Street Fighter V," to purchase the stage. The costumes can also be purchased at $3.99 each.

In other news, Capcom also announced that the introduction of a new character via DLC will be delayed. The company previously announced that it will be revamping the online component of "Street Fighter V," as well as providing balance updates. These, as well as the new character, will be bundled together in the same DLC pack. The release date of this has not been announced yet. Furthermore, no information has been given yet on who the new character is.
