'Star Wars Episode 7' plot update: Director J.J. Abrams confirms some of plot rumors are 'true'

There are a lot of rumors spreading across the Internet regarding "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" and this director J.J. Abrams himself has come out to address the rumors and what he expects of the audience.

Abrams was interviewed by News.com.au while promoting the Maya Forbes directed flick, "Infinity Polar Bear". During the interview he confirmed that many of the rumors were true. He also did state that some of the rumors he'd heard or read online were completely false.

The director did not elaborate which ones were accurate and which ones were false.

"My dream is that, despite so many rumors – many of which are true, many of which are untrue – when people see the movie, they see something that hasn't been completely ruined for them by having read spoilers they might not have wanted to read," he stated.

Abrams is known for keeping an iron grip on secrets on all of his projects, including the two "Star Trek" films he had previously worked on. He had denied rumors up to the films' release, including a rumor – which turned out to be true – regarding Benedict Cumberbatch playing the villain Khan.

Some of the most prevalent rumors suggest that a major character would die in the film. Many point out to either Han Solo or even Luke Skywalker, with the latter dying in a way that would be reminiscent of Obi-Wan's death in "A New Hope."

Other rumors suggest the remnants of the Empire are building planet-destroying weapons on an icy planet or that Domnhall Gleeson's character is either a defector from the Empire or the son of Luke Skywalker.

Actor Oscar Isaac, who plays a character named Poe Dameron, went the exact opposite direction and denied any of the rumors were true.

"I can't speak for the cast and crew. For me I thought, don't you want to wait so you can get the real thing?" he stated during an interview with Yahoo.
