Six things to pray for AFTER Easter

Easter might have already come and gone but Christian author Lysa TerKeurst says she is not quite through with it yet.

"I feel like the girl who wears the same outfit to school two days in a row. Easter is done now. Time to put it back in the closet. Only for me it isn't. I want to wear it again today, tomorrow and many more tomorrows," she wrote on her website.

TerKeurst said that Easter is more than just a ritual to her. In fact, she considers it a revelation - a time where "Jesus splits my soul along the fault line of a scar deep within."

That scar TerKeurst is referring to is the fact that she was unwanted by her birth father. But Jesus is the complete opposite, she said. Jesus loved her so much that He gave up His life for her.

"Even though I know God so loved the world, He gave His son, it becomes very individual if we let it," she said. So TerKeurst said that it's not such a bad idea to celebrate Easter a little bit longer.

Six prayers come to the author's mind after the observance of Easter. The first is the prayer to overcome fear. TerKeurst wants Christians to hand over their fears to God and resurrect the parts of their faith that have been "squelched by fear."

The next prayers are to seek for Jesus and to celebrate His resurrection. "God, the fact that Jesus is risen should lift my head, my heart and my attitude. Help me to live today as if I really believe this with every part of my life," said TerKeurst.

The fourth prayer is to believe in the promises of Jesus, and trust Him more. The fifth prayer is for strength and willingness to live a Godly life. "Help me trust You more, obey You more and resemble You more," she said.

The last prayer is for forgiveness. Sometimes, people get so caught up "rushing about" that they forget God, His Word, and His insights.

TerKeurst also wants to be a "bold and gracious truth proclaimer" and spread the Word of God. Jesus has done wonders in her life, and she turned from being a girl who was unwanted to someone who is loved and cherished beyond measure, and the author wants others to feel that love as well.
