Piracy will become more rampant in the gaming community, in a good way, as "Sea of Thieves," a pirate roleplaying game (RPG) simulator is getting it closed beta this month.

Developer Rare and publisher Microsoft Studios have announced that the closed beta for "Sea of Thieves" will be taking place on Jan. 24 for the PC and the Xbox One. The closed beta will run for five days, ending on Jan. 29, where players who have pre-ordered the game or joined the "Sea of Thieves" Insider Program prior to Dec. 1, 2017 will be eligible to partake in the closed beta.

More than that, the closed beta would not just be a sample of the full game, but it will also be a tailored experience, which will allow the players to have a taste of piracy. Lucky players will then be able to experience first-hand the improved graphics of the game from the Alpha version, as well as some of the customization options for the game which will be available come the full release.

What is more important for streamers and other players is that the closed beta will no longer have a non-disclosure agreement during testing. This means players will be able to record or stream footage of them during gameplay and upload them in order for others to see whether the game has improved much and is up to expectations. This should help others decide whether to pre-order the game or not.

"Sea of Thieves" is set to be quite an ambitious project from its developers, where players can make their own pirate characters, form pirate crews, find treasure (or steal them), and sail their dreadnoughts in the open seas. The game will also allow for a cooperative (co-op) mode where other players can join in on the plunder or raiding. The objective of the game is to reach a legendary status as one of the most menacing pirates of the seas.

"Sea of Thieves" is expected to arrive on March 20.
