It has already been confirmed that "Scandal" will premiere its fifth season this fall and fans should expect some new faces that will appear as regulars.

This news came from the show panel during the recent Television Critics Association press tour in Beverly Hills.

According to show creator Shonda Rhimes, who told reporters during the TCA press tour, the new season will pick up where season 4 finale left off, with Olivia and Fitz reunited.

Apart from that bit, Rhimes also revealed that a new face will appear in the new season. Cornelius Smith Jr. will become a show regular and he will be playing Marcus Walker, a community activist who seeks Olivia's help when he gets involved in a scandal with a politician's wife.

Meanwhile, the finale episode of season 4 saw how Fitz asked his wife Mellie to leave the White House because of how she behaved at the Senate campaign.

This gave chance to the Fitz-Olivia story, which obviously won't be happy news for Mellie.

Inquisitr also reported that Olivia and Fitz will have their reunion because Elizabeth North, played by Portia de Rossi, revealed Mellie's affair with Olivia's father, Rowan Pope.

That signified that the trust between the president and his first lady is now broken. Will that mean that "Scandal" season 5 will see a divorce plot?

During the ABC "TGIT" press tour, Rhimes only commented that they don't give away future plot. However she did describe that the "concept is intriguing" during a one-one-one, as stated in the Inquisitr report.

As for Bellamy Young, the actress who played Mellie, she revealed to TVLine that the new season will see her character in a bad situation.

Mellie may have gotten the senate seat, but she was kicked out by Fitz and that was harsh.

A new season of "Scandal" will return on Sept. 24 at 9 p.m. EST.
