Concerns are being raised regarding the fundraising campaign of The Satanic Temple (TST) cult which seeks to support on-demand abortions and counter legal challenges such as the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act and 20-week abortion bans.
Catholic theologian, author, and speaker Thomas D. Williams, Ph.D. noted that the cult has a history of engaging in child sacrifices which, he said, explains why it is promoting abortion and trying to find ways to circumvent laws that seek to abolish it.
Williams noted that TST is mouthing the same propaganda coming from Planned Parenthood, which declares that informed consent materials for those seeking an abortion "are often scientifically unfounded or medically invalid," while ultrasounds are an "attempt to create guilt and discomfort in those seeking abortions."
Mandatory waiting periods, both the cult and Planned Parenthood assert, "serve no medical function."
On Saturday, TST unveiled a one-ton bronze statue of a goat-headed Baphomet at a private ceremony in Detroit, an event attended by "hundreds" of supporters and kibitzers.
"The Israelites struggled against the worship of Baal, another name for the Phoenician god Moloch, who demanded child sacrifices of his followers and was associated with the devil. The prophet Jeremiah speaks explicitly of the sacrifice of children to Baal, warning his readers that God finds such behavior abhorrent," Williams said in an article for Breitbart.
Back in May, the Christian Post reported that TST backed the case of a woman seeking to skip the mandatory 72-hour wait period before undergoing an abortion in Missouri. Identified only as "Mary," the woman insisted that her satanic beliefs mandate that she forgo the waiting period and simply carry on with the abortion.
"As an adherent to the principles of the Satanic Temple, I, and I alone, decide whether my inviolable body remains pregnant," said Mary.
The TST has already managed to raise $32,100 in the fundraising website Indiegogo. The group said the money will be used to "challenge arbitrary, insulting abortion regulations" in America.
"The TST supports personal choice in the context of abortion and, as part of a multi-faceted Women's Rights campaign, TST is offering religious exemptions from arbitrary, insulting, and outright harmful anti-abortion legislation that has been steadily encroaching across the nation," the group wrote on its website.
The group strongly believes that "one's body is inviolable, subject to one's own will alone," and, "beliefs should conform to our best scientific understanding of the world. We should take care never to distort scientific facts to fit our beliefs."
When women are forced to undergo narrated ultrasounds, the government is actually making "a facile attempt" to create guilt and discomfort for those seeking abortions, the TST believes, and that is why people should do away with mandatory waiting periods.
