San Antonio Spurs injury rumors 2016: Tony Parker suffers sore hip in win over Mavs

An injury scare was experienced by the San Antonio Spurs in their home win over the Dallas Mavericks Sunday, as point guard Tony Parker again had hip soreness and left in the third quarter.

ESPN mentioned in its report that Parker missed two games last week because of the same injury and him exiting the game against Dallas was likely a "precautionary measure."

Parker started in the game and had two points, five rebounds, seven assists and two steals in 25 minutes of action.

The injury was a bit surprising since before the matchup with the Mavs, Parker led San Antonio in a home win against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Thursday.

In that game, the 33-year-old point guard turned back the hands of time having 24 points, four rebounds, two assists, three steals, and one block.

It is still uncertain what Parker's current status is, but it will be a huge loss for the Spurs if he needs to miss games because of the injured hip.

The Spurs are playing perfectly this season, currently on an 11-game winning streak and are still unbeaten at the AT&T Center with a 24–0 record.

If Parker sits out in the next game/s, San Antonio will miss 12.8 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 5.2 assists.

Likely stepping up for Parker if he needs to miss games or if the Spurs rest him are point guards Patty Mills and Ray McCallum.

Mills is a proven player for San Antonio who can shoot and score, while McCallum is a young playmaker who is ready to see action.

The Spurs are currently the second best team in the league and in the Western Conference with a 36–6 record, just 1.5 games behind the defending champions Golden State Warriors (37–4).

Next on the schedule, San Antonio will go on a three-game Western Conference road trip which begins this Thursday versus the Phoenix Suns.
