Samsung Galaxy S9+ Camera vs Google Pixel, iPhone X comparison, reviews: S9+ has the best camera among three major flagship phones

It seems Samsung again set the standard for releasing one of the best smartphones this year. According to camera experts at DxOMark, the Galaxy S9+ was rated to have the best camera over the iPhone X and Google Pixel 2. For those who are still in doubt if they should choose the S9+ over the other two, the DxOMark review may well be the article that would make up their mind.

The basics first: DxOMark gives the Samsung Galaxy S9+ camera a 99 overall score, higher than the Pixel 2 (which scored 98), the Apple iPhone X (97) and the Huawei Mate 10 Pro (97). However, it should be noted that this number has no upper limit (the Galaxy S9's still image rating is 104). While the rating may seem arbitrary and does not really tell anything meaningful about the camera, the body of the review is as detailed as it can get.

The Galaxy S9 main and secondary cameras are both rated at 12 megapixels. The difference between the two is that the main camera has a 1/2.55″ sensor and f/1.5 / f/2.4 variable aperture lens while the secondary camera has a 1/3.6″ sensor, 2x tele and f/2.4 aperture lens.

Both lenses have an Optical Image Stabilizer (OIS), which means that the lenses will attempt to stabilize the images it records by redirecting them through various optical paths to the sensor.

The main camera also has a Phase Detection Autofocus (PDAF) feature, which creates two copies of an image and then adjusts them until they merge. The advantage of this is that the main lens can perform at faster speeds on autofocus.

There are also other features that the Galaxy S9 reportedly does better, like low-light photography, high-contrast imaging, and 4K video recording. In conclusion, DxOMark says that Samsung's new flagship phone "sets the pace" for new camera phones this 2018.
