Samsung Galaxy S7 release date rumors: New high-end handset coming in January?

The Samsung Galaxy S6 will be overshadowed by the Galaxy S7 when it arrives. Samsung/Galaxy S6

Just a few months after Samsung released its new line of flagship smartphones, the South Korean electronics giant is gearing up to launch its next high-end smartphone under the Samsung Galaxy line.

According to speculations, the Samsung Galaxy S7 will be unveiled in January, one month earlier than expected. It means that instead of being revealed during the annual Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain in the month of February just like what the company did during the release of Samsung Galaxy S6, they will release the device at the start of the year.

The report about Samsung Galaxy S6's release date speculations stemmed from a Korean site ET News, which claims that the highly anticipated device will be announced on Jan. 19 but it did not reveal the reasons why the unveiling will be held earlier than expected.

Other speculations about the device claim that the South Korean mobile device manufacturer will introduce the Samsung Galaxy S7 and Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge with a 5.1-inch and a 5.3-inch display, respectively.

There are also reports claiming that the Samsung Galaxy S7 will use a brand new processor that is still unreleased in the market. Meanwhile, there are speculations saying that the smartphone device will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 for the devices that will be released in the U.S. and China, while those living in other countries will use an Exynos chip. Both variations will be featuring a 3-GB of RAM.

Samsung has yet to release an official statement regarding the Galaxy S7 smartphone.
