New reports pertaining to the anticipated Samsung Galaxy Note 5 Edge variant smartphone have showed up recently claiming the device won't be released this year, alongside the Samsung Galaxy Note 5, as previously expected.

The reports are suggesting the new Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus will be released this year in its stead. Christian Post reported that these new rumors came from a source by Chinese website sq.qq.com.

Value Walk reported that the move by the South Korean giant is aimed at capitalizing on the success of the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 5, as previously rumored, is still expected to be launched this September at the upcoming IFA 2015 event in Berlin, Germany.

Earlier rumors said the new Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus will sport a 5.5 inch display screen, but a recent report by the BRG website says the new device could sport a 5.7 inch dual-edge display screen and will run on the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop operating system, based on rumors by Sam Mobile.

DonklePhant reported that the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus, like the previous models, will also sport a metallic body. The Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus will come with a 16 mega pixel camera on the back and possibly a 5 mega pixel camera on the front.

The new Galaxy S6 Edge Plus will be powered by the Exynos 7420 processor, while other rumors say it will pack Qualcomm's Snapdragon 808 processor. The highly anticipated Samsung Galaxy Note is also expected to be powered by Samsung's Exynos processor, and will also run on the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop operating system.

Since the Galaxy Note 5 Edge won't be coming out this year, it's possible that the new Galaxy S6 Edge Plus will be released alongside the Galaxy Note 5 at the IFA 2015 event in Germany.
