Samsung has started accepting preorders for "Galaxy Note 5 Duos" before its official launch on Aug. 21.
GSM Arena was one of the first to report the news, citing a source from the Philippines. The dual SIM variant of the Galaxy Note 5, however, has reportedly been released only in selected markets across the globe. According to the website, the phone is not yet available in many countries, including the United States. Interested buyers could access some international variants via online retailers.
Touted by Samsung as a better version of the previous devices with S-Pen, Galaxy Note 5 has a 5.7 –inch quad HD display with a glass and metal build. When the South Korean multinational conglomerate makes the phone available on Aug. 21, customers will be able to buy from major telecom carriers, as well as online.
Tech Times has taken note that Samsung's newest offering is lacking a microSD slot, as seen in a leaked photo online. ePrice, a website based in Hong Kong, reportedly released an image of Galaxy Note 5 Duos with a tray stamped with the microSD logo.
The phablet allegedly features dual SIM card trays, one to double for the microSD card. The slot was positioned on the left side of the gadget, while the S-pen stylus could be seen on the right. Although the tray looked bigger than the regular card, the use of an adaptor is being suggested to solve the issue.
The latest pictures released by another source, however, debunked this rumor. On the images, a number of parts of "Galaxy Note 5 Duos" could clearly be distinguished. The S-Pen and micro USB 2.0 were there, but the fabled microSD slot was not.
NDTV Gadgets reports that the price for the new "Galaxy Note" phablet starts at $739.99 for the 32 GB variant. While it was previously listed on the company's website, Samsung has recently confirmed that they would not be offering a 128 GB version of the device.
