Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. launched in China last week its thinnest smartphone, the Samsung Galaxy A8; but reports say that it will be heading for a South Korean debut as well.
Samsung announced last Monday that the smartphone will be released in South Korea on July 24, according to reports.
Galaxy A8, Samsung's thinnest device yet, measuring only 5.9 millimeters thick and weighs 5.3 ounces, will be available in two color options: white and gold. It is said to cost around $560, as reported in Android Authority.
The smartphone features a 5.7-inch screen with 1080 resolution. It runs on an octa-core Snapdragon 615 processor, with 2GB RAM and 16GB storage capacity.
A microSD slot is also available. The phone also features a 16-megapixel camera at the back and a 5-megapixel at the front.
The phone also holds a 3050mAh battery and is preinstalled with Android 5.1 Lollipop operating system (OS). Another remarkable feature of the device is the fingerprint scanner on the home button.
For its price, features, and ultra-slim design, Samsung Galaxy A8 is considered an affordable device intended for consumers who are looking for a high-quality gadget without having to break the bank.
What makes Galaxy A8 awesome is the fact that it is the thinnest device from the South Korean tech company, but it doesn't skimp on the features.
Without a doubt, the thin design that carries decent specs is surely a way for Samsung to attract customers, following a drop in sales this past year, as reported in CNET.
Galaxy A8, a part of the Galaxy A series, follows Galaxy A3, A5, and A7, which became available for sale in 2014.
So far, China and South Korea are the countries that got a first experience of the ultra-thin device. It will also be launched in Singapore, but without an official date yet, The Inquirer reported.
