Joey Feek cancer battle update: Rory Feek says life with wife is not 'all sappy tears and Hallmark-movie moments'

Joey Martin Feek of the country singing duo Joey+Rory continues to battle terminal cancer, but she and her loving husband Rory are putting on a brave face. They are also living each day as if it might be their last. For fans getting a glimpse into their lives, each moment they share seems to be an awe-inducing moment.

In his latest post on his This Life I Live blog, Rory writes that despite the picture-perfect moments he writes about, battling cancer is in truth a terrible ordeal.

"Please don't think that our life is all sappy tears and Hallmark-movie moments, like something out of a Nicholas Sparks novel, because it's not," he says. "There is lots of real pain and hurt and frustration and fun and laughter... and most times, we just pinch ourselves because we feel so darn lucky and blessed. But the moments that seem to stand out – the ones that matter and hurt the most of course – have tears in them. And I can't help but share a few of the most powerful moments as they happen. To capture them. To remember."

Rory adds that they are happy to have spent Valentine's Day together, as well as celebrate the second birthday of their daughter Indiana.

"There have been big parties for little people and small losses with great lessons... and we even had a romantic night filled with more love for each other than we even thought was possible. But mostly, this has been a week filled with thankfulness," he says.

Rory is thankful that despite their current predicament, he and his wife were able to maintain the right perspective. When they watched the pre-Grammy ceremony before Valentine's Day and learned that they did not win their nomination for best country duo/group performance, they took things in stride.

"I've said before that just being nominated is enough. But after having more time to think about it... that's not actually true. Instead, I would say that just being able to wake up and look into the eyes of the people we care about and tell them that we love them is enough. Everything else is just icing on the cake," shares Rory.
