In the new presidential poll result, the exuberant Republican candidate Donald Trump extends his lead, while the second spot is taken by Ben Carson, who is followed by Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida and Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas.
The presidential poll that was conducted by Washington Post/ABC News from Nov. 16 to 19 had the billionaire businessman from New York leading by 10 points. It has put him in a comfortable position over Ben Carson, who got 22 percent of the registered Republican voters compared to Trump's 32 percent.
Trump's controversial stand on terrorism and immigration may have received social media backlash, but the poll results showed a different story. The new poll proves nothing but Trump's surge to the top of the Republican presidential race.
Meanwhile, Rubio who got 11 percent of the GOP vote, is the only other candidate in double figures, increasing by one percent from the last poll conducted. Jeb Bush, the former governor of Florida, only got six percent and it marks his lowest voting percentage since the start of the presidential poll two years ago. Ted Cruz, who is currently in the fourth place with eight percent, has to work harder to catch up to his rivals.
Trump, who caused a media storm this week by suggesting for all Muslims in the United States to register, ignited another controversy after saying he would bring back waterboarding in interrogations of suspected terrorists.
"I would bring it back. I think waterboarding is peanuts compared to what they'd do to us, what they're doing to us, what they did to James Foley when they chopped off his head," Trump said.
"That's a whole different level and I would absolutely bring back interrogation and strong interrogation," he added, according to ABC News.
