Presidential Polls update 2016: South Carolina poll shows Donald Trump, Hillary Clinton lead

A new South Carolina poll has revealed that GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump is in the lead.

The poll was conducted by CBS News and YouGov from Feb. 10 to 12 and results were released on Sunday. Trump is seen with 42 percent support and a 22-point lead against rival Senator Ted Cruz from Texas.

Florida Senator Marco Rubio follows in the third place with 15 percent. Ohio Governor John Kasich, former Florida Governor Jeb Bush, and retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson each received a single-digit rating. Kasich got nine percent, while Bush and Carson tied with six percent.

The South Carolina poll not only showed Trump's high rating, but also the increase in number of likely Republican voters who are firm in their decision to choose the real estate mogul as the next President of the United States.

A whopping 60 percent of Republican primary voters also believe that Trump is part of the solution to the country's problem. Cruz was also viewed as part of the solution by 53 percent of the respondents.

Over to the Democratic side, the same South Carolina poll results show that former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is still on the lead, with 59 percent likely Democratic voters supporting her. On the other hand, her rival Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders follows with 40 percent.

Clinton is being backed by a majority of African American voters, while Sanders presence is strong among white and younger likely voters. When it comes to voters' view about these leading Democratic presidential candidates, in terms of honesty and trustworthiness, Sanders leads with 75 percent as opposed to Clinton's 60 percent. Conversely, 24 percent view Clinton as not honest and trustworthy compared to Sander's 10 percent.

When it comes to preparedness in becoming the country's next president, Clinton leads by 30 percent.
