"PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds" (PUBG) is now on a copyright battleground of its own, as new imitations of the battle royale game are popping up like wild mushrooms, the latest of which is titled "PlayerUnkn1wn: Friendly Fire" (PUFF).

"PUFF" has now joined the likes of "PlayerUn4wn: Zombie" and "Gamers Unknown Survival" in Steam and is now available for the PC. Currently, "PUFF" is still in its early access phase, with a full release yet unannounced. Fans of "PUBG" have unanimously agreed that "PUFF" is either a shameless ripoff trying to cash in on the popularity of the battle royale genre or a light-hearted and good parody.

Despite the striking similarity of the titles, "PUFF" focuses more on cooperative instead of competitive multiplayer, where a group of friends must fend off hordes of deadly giant beetles using a wide selection of weapons. So far though, only three weapons have been listed; these are Steel Arms, Blasters, and Shotguns.

The game's premise is actually simpler than that of "PUBG" and has a lot less depth as players do not need to explore the environment since their only goal is to survive for as long as they can amidst a beetle attack.

"PUFF," unlike "PUBG" will also be utilizing a top-down perspective and has more cartoonish graphics compared to the realism in "PUBG." Thankfully, the game also has much lower system requirements than "PUBG," requiring only an Intel Pentium processor as its central processing unit (CPU), and an NVIDIA GeForce GT 630 graphics processing unit (GPU), paired with just 1 gigabyte (GB) of random access memory (RAM).

Anything better than the mentioned specifications will be able to run the game in its full visual glory, though it being in early access means a lot still needs to be improved. Interested players, however, might want to wait for user reviews in Steam first before purchasing the game to see if it holds on its own.
