Bandai Namco, the arcade and video game publisher, has recently released a new mobile game that ties into the upcoming science fiction-action-comedy film "Pixels."

"PIXELS Defense" is an iOS and Android defense mobile game that put players into the role of city defenders, where they try to fend off aliens from invading the world. Just like in the movie, the little green people have been watching Earth for quite some time now and have finally decided to attack by taking the forms of the most famous pixelated video game characters.

Players will be building towers and strategically placing them in the map where they can cause the most damage. They can also set up the Arcaders to target enemies and move them in any key locations they prefer. Each stage features three dynamic difficulty levels. The main goal is to defeat wave after wave of enemy invaders before they can pixelate the cities of the world.

The tower defense mobile game also lets players team up with the heroes in the movie including Adam Sandler, Peter Dinklage, and Josh Gad. In turn, they will be facing off against classic arcade games like Pac-Man, Frogger, Q*bert, Galaga, Centipede, Tetris, Dig Dug, and many more.

According to Droid Gamers, the 3D visuals combined with pixel art in "PIXELS Defense" result to "some interesting-looking enemies." It also added that it is "a pretty decent little time killer of a game" that people might want to check out if they are into tower defense titles.

The fact that the game is completely free makes it all the more exciting. Android Authority reports that it has no in-app purchases or tricks, and it is just "pure fun."

"PIXELS Defense" is available for download in Google Play. Meanwhile, the movie "Pixels" will hit the cinemas on July 24.
