The Philadelphia 76ers added help in the backcourt by signing point guard Kendall Marshall to reportedly a four-year contract, although no financial information about the deal was released.
Marshall was the Phoenix Suns' 13th overall pick in the 2012 National Basketball Association (NBA) Draft and played 48 games with the team.
In his time with the Suns, Marshall was also assigned to the Bakersfield Jam of the NBA Developmental League (D-League).
The Suns then traded Marshall together with three other players to the Washington Wizards but he was waived.
Marshall returned to the D-League and played for the Delaware 87ers where he had a very strong performance that made the Los Angeles Lakers sign him in 2013.
The Lakers were in need of players during that time because of injuries and Marshall took advantage of the opportunity as he played in 54 regular season games, which included 45 starts.
In his time with Los Angeles, Marshall averaged 8.0 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 8.8 assists in 29 minutes of action per outing.
Unfortunately, the 24-year-old point guard's efforts were not enough as he was waived by the Lakers but was later claimed by the Milwaukee Bucks.
In the 2014–15 season, Marshall played 28 games for the Bucks but was sidelined for the remainder of the season after suffering a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his right knee.
Last February, he was traded by the Bucks back to the Suns but was waived two days after.
Now, the former North Carolina Tar Heel will have another shot in his NBA career with the rebuilding 76ers.
Marshall will be the most experienced playmaker in Philadelphia's roster heading to the 2015–16 season.
The 6-foot-4-inch point guard will join a young core with the 76ers who are looking to bounce back after another disastrous year that saw them win only 18 games and miss the playoffs for the third straight season.
