A Florida pastor shot in the head during a road rage incident last month is slowly recovering, police officials said Tuesday.

Steven Simon was on a West Palm Beach highway on July 31 when another drive shot him. The shooter remains at large.

Although the Martin County Sheriff's Office has received 50 to 60 tip offs regarding the incident, there are no solid leads.

"None of those [tip offs] are what we would call a smoking gun," Sheriff William Snyder told The Palm Beach Post.

Simon's passenger, Lovelyn Salomon, told police that on July 31 at around 10 p.m., the Honda Pilot that Simon was driving accidentally cut off another vehicle on Interstate 95. The vehicle that was cut off changed lanes, then pulled in front of Simon and slowed down. When Simon changed lanes to get from behind the car, the driver pulled up to Simon's left, rolled down the window, and fired one or two shots.

The Straight Way to Heaven A.O.K. (Advancement of the Kingdom) Ministries pastor was taken to the Lawnwood Regional Medical Center in Fort Pierce, and placed in a medically-induced coma. He awoke on August 4, and was able to give police a description of the man who shot him, and the car he was driving.

The suspect was described as a white man with white hair, driving a gold Chrysler Concorde. Police said there is no evidence the two men knew each other.

Pastor Simon is slowly regaining his vision, and his wife, Emma, said that he is getting back to his old self.

A GoFundMe crowdfunding page has been created to support Simon's wife, their two children, Jed and Jael, and Straight Way to Heaven, as they navigate Simon's recovery. So far, over $3,800 has been raised.
