Pastor Rick Warren seeks prayers for U2's Dennis Sheehan who passed away at 68

Saddleback Church Pastor Rick Warren is seeking prayers for U2's tour manager Dennis Sheehan, a "calm and kind Christian man" who passed away at the age of 68 on Wednesday last week.

"U2's road manager for 33 years, the amazing Dennis Sheehan died suddenly last night here in L.A. Dennis was a calm and kind Christian man," he wrote on his Facebook page. "The team is heartbroken so Adam, Larry, Edge, and Bono asked me to share some scripture, words of comfort, and pray with them right before they walked on stage tonight."

Warren decided to share the contents of his wife Kay's book called "Choose Joy," which deals with their son's tragic death back in 2013. The book encourages readers to find healing and redemption in God. Warren urged the members of U2 to always "choose joy" no matter what comes along their way.

"After sharing the ‪#‎ChooseJoy story from my son's death, I asked, 'So how do you go out and do a concert when your heart is hurting?' Bono said 'We choose joy!' Right. Pray for Pam who lost the love of her life," he said.

Sheehan died after going into cardiac arrest at a hotel on Sunset Strip in West Hollywood, just one day after U2 kicked off their five-night stint in the Los Angeles area, according to The Associated Press. Sheehan became a part of U2, which is comprised of Christians, in 1982 after working with Led Zeppelin and Patti Smith.

In honor of Sheehan, lead singer Bono shared a message in honour of their tour manager on their website: "U2 is a kind of family. U2 is a brotherhood – although there are a lot of sisters in it now that I think about it. The extended family are everything to us, we look after each other. Last night we lost a member of our family... He wasn't just a legend in the music business, he was a legend in our band. He is irreplaceable."
