Blizzard announced that its Halloween-themed event in the first person shooter video game "Overwatch" called "Halloween Terror" is making a return this month. The event will begin next week and will offer new cosmetic upgrades to the various characters in the popular game.
"Halloween Terror" will be starting on Oct. 10 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Microsoft Windows, and will run until Nov. 2.
The game also shared a very short, seven-second teaser video showcasing the new themed skins for characters Reaper and McCree, as well as a poem that read, "The nights grow cold / And monsters appear / A great evil gathers / And Halloween draws near..."
The trailer also featured the image of Dr. Junkenstein, last year's special skin for Junkrat, who had an exclusive mode called Junkenstein's Revenge. It is possible that Blizzard may be bringing back the mode for this year's Halloween campaign.
Junkenstein's Revenge was a player versus environment (PvE) horde mode wherein players can play cooperatively as characters Ana, McCree, Hanzo, and Soldier 76, as they fight against waves of zombie robots. This mode featured artificial intelligence (AI) controlled versions of Mercy dressed as a witch, Junkrat in his Dr. Junkenstein skin, Reaper with a pumpkin for a head, and Roadhog in his Frankenstein's monster costume.
Although the special mode was only available during last year's Halloween event, it was very popular that many players were asking to get a permanent horde mode in the game. Players will find out next week if Blizzard will have a few surprises regarding this PvE mode.
It is not yet known if the Halloween costumes from last year will still be available this year. That is likely to happen, since in the title's Summer Games event earlier this year, costumes from last year's summer event were also made available.
Details about the Halloween event and the new character skins are still scant, but Blizzard may continue releasing teasers until the event's launch next week.
